We are very proud to say that our young adults are active members in our community. With work placements at Fortino’s, Canadian Tire, Burger King, Dave & Busters, and job contracts for local businesses, these individuals are being included and participating in opportunities in their communities.
V.I.A also takes part in volunteer opportunities in which we can continue to foster independence through life skills. Placements include Father Bressani Catholic High School, Pioneer Village, Al Palladini Community Centre and Community Health Centres.
We believe strongly in giving back to our community by taking part in community events. Some past events include the Vaughan Business Enterprise Centre (VBEC) Food Bank b-b-q where our individuals contributed a large majority of food items donated. We have also been actively involved in “Communities in Bloom”, a nation wide program which promotes beautiful communities. Other initiatives include the City of Vaughan’s Community Clean-Up Day and tree and flower bed planting and park cleanup. As a result of these activities, V.I.A was awarded the Mayor’s Corporate Community Involvement award in August 2004.
In April 2004 & 2005, Vaughan in Action was presented as a finalist in the
Vaughan Chamber Annual Business Awards in recognition of the work we do in
the community.
